celeine:

fandom secret whenever i see anti white wash blogs i get extremely upset simply over the fact that i know these mods are not asking for permission to display the art they display

thats extremely rude- i know you guys aren’t artists but try to understand that that HURTS the art community and upsets artists to unfathomable extents

so try to understand or ask for permission

CC: I am trying.

I am trying to understand your stupidity.

Basic bitch mistake number one:

You state that the mods here aren’t artists.

You’re wrong.

Where was it stated anywhere that the mods aren’t artists?

Where have we explicitly said that each one of us is not an artist?

Oh. Right. No where.

Basic bitch mistake number two:

You state that we are not asking for permission to display the artist’s work here.

An artist who posts up their artwork on Tumblr is automatically opening themselves up to criticism, praise or both. We do not reblog artwork with captions like “please do not reblog” (not that we’ve even found any). It’s obvious that an artist who posts up their artwork on the internet/Tumblr is looking for likes, comments, reblogs. But because our criticism is perceived as negative, NOW we have to ask for permission? This is a public website. The INTERNET is a public entity. Submissions we receive obviously come from places where the artwork has been posted publicly. We also credit the artist and check the source ourselves. We respect “do not reblogs” but if you post your artwork here and it is whitewashed, we will let you know. If you find LEGITIMATE CRITICISM TO BE “UPSETTING” AND “HURTFUL”, perhaps you shouldn’t post up your fucking artwork you fucking dipshit. I’m beginning to lose my patience with how stupid you children are.

The “art community” you’re speaking of is full of people who want to be coddled about their artwork, regardless of how problematic it is. The “art community” you’re speaking of doesn’t like criticism and refuses to acknowledge that not everything they do is fucking perfect. Get over yourselves and deflate your fucking egos.

It’s also very telling (I’m beginning to like that phrase, “very telling”) that you say NOTHING of blogs that are dedicated to posting beautiful fandom related artworks. I’m pretty DAMNED sure they’re not asking artists to post their artwork on their blogs. But they don’t have to right? It’s just the anti-whitewashing blogs that upset you because HOW DARE WE do anything other than praise the artists?

Your immaturity is showing. Perhaps you shouldn’t be allowed a computer if you’re that upset.

And now

Basic bitch mistake number three:

Your fucking tags you asshole.

Your tags are the reason I’m not even granting you the benefit of the doubt.

#damnlayoffthebleach = has artist mods

#korraisnottan = has artist mods (one of them has even posted up their artwork in order to explain whitewashing)

#i know trying to be sensible is hard for you = I just dissected why you’re a fucking moron and why you have no fucking sensibility whatsoever

#or better yet POLITELY address your situation with the art piece in private = Something tells me that publicizing your bullshit is the only proper way to reach you. We’ve addressed things in private before. What have we gotten? Racial slurs, blatant denials and ignorance. Oh ok.

I won’t even bother with the rest of the bullshit tags you posted, go back to wanking over your OTP or something.

korraisnottan:

I remember you asking for photos like these, so I took two pictures of some skin bleaching stuff sold at a beauty store in my neighborhood.  The main demographic is Hispanic, who could be any race really (cause Hispanic is the “ethnicity”.. I often get those terms mixed up myself). A little part of me was hoping I wouldn’t find this kind of stuff here, but I did.

I don’t know if it because they’re swamped with asks…

korraisnottan:

dialmformags:

… but I feel like I made some good points on whitewashing korra fanart and korraisnottan is just ignoring me because I’m not a blatant vulgar asshole that they can make look dumb, nor am I someone who totally agrees with their methods and they can just thank me for thinking they’re right.

All in all I said that they were right to call out racism, but not to be bullies about it, also not go looking for fights that weren’t meant to be started

Korra IS brown, but let’s be honest, she’s not this dark throughout the ENTIRE show:

For example:

Funny that none of these types of screen caps are in your references, but yeah.

Just putting that out there. :/ I’d hate to have someone just tell everyone else what’s wrong with my art and not me. And not even put a specific explanation for each piece.

Seriously keep doing your thing but if you don’t want people treating whitewashing like “no big deal”, stop treating everyone like they’re master artists who also own lynches. Half the time it’s like yelling at a baby for shitting themselves: potty training doesn’t happen by just yelling at them.

Deedee:

I’m not getting any of your asks. I’m actually not getting any asks. I’m sure they are going to straight to the admin and we’ll have to fix that when she gets on. But they fact you are mad your asks aren’t getting answered is fucking childish. Stop that.

The fact you just tried to used a whitewashed screencap,

Screencap straight off the nick.com website stream less than two seconds after that picture, to talk about her lightness just really makes me want to ignore the rest of what you are saying and go with my life. But because I’m in a good mood. I’ll play along.

I’m not going to sit and write down a detailed reasons as to why for every single one.

Most of the screencaps I post are enough explanation. If it is a standalone picture. It better be close to that screencap from that official art right there. Those are the ones I judge the most.

I have take into concideration many things when I post pictures.

Standalone or in a setting. Does the setting have a time of day, is it inside or outside. What’s the source of light and for the amount of light they are using, do the shadows have enough contrast.

As you can see. The brighter it is outside for her, the more contrast between the darkest and the lightest skintone she has. The darker, the less contrast.

The first is her outside in the bright light and as you can see, her darkest tone is the same as her inside (right below it) darkest tone in regular lightening, the closest to the official art.

I’m not going to explain myself again but since I’m a new mod, I’ll do it this one AND ONLY ONE MOTHERFUCKING TIME.

Seriously keep doing your thing but if you don’t want people treating whitewashing like “no big deal”, stop treating everyone like they’re master artists who also own lynches. Half the time it’s like yelling at a baby for shitting themselves: potty training doesn’t happen by just yelling at them.

I can’t even with that shit.

Honset opinion on Whitewashing.

atomicvalkyrie:

If a cartoon character is white washed in fan art please calm down. The cartoon character isn’t a real person.

If it’s an actual person being white washed in a photo then there is a problem.

Thats my opinion so take it with a grain of sand.

Also I would like to add, that while turning a character with colored skin into pale white is not alright, if the skin color is a little shade off then your just being a bit too anal about things.
