I've tried to convince somebody that brownfacing or blackfacing is not okay, ever, but at the same time, I feel like I'm stepping beyond my boundaries, as I'm not a POC, and I don't really know what's considered acceptable and not, in terms of white people and trying to talk about racism. Odd question, yes, but what do you think is overstepping?
BRHood: Is the person themselves a PoC? That’s the only reason where it may be. If they’re white like you are, then it’s not overstepping at all but doing your job as an ally. if they are a PoC, I would advise telling them that YOU’VE been told it’s problematic and point them to sources so they can educate themselves.
