I saw a really cool ring in a shop, that featured Ganesh. I really like it, however I'm worried because I'm not Hindu, and I don't want to appropriate another culture because it "looks cool". What are your thoughts?
TayTay:
… I’m not Hindu. I don’t know the significance of the Ganesh … if I were to buy it… it’d be because it looks cool… I’d tern the Ganesh into a fashion statement. I really don’t have any clue what it is…. so I would be essentially be ridding it of its cultural significance…
I wouldn’t buy it. It’s appropriation.

Okay, thanks a lot. It makes me sound a bit stupid when I read this back, but i’d rather sound stupid than do something potentially racist. thanks a lot :)

I’m Hindu and wondering WTF Ganesh is doing on a ring anyway.
