Do you guys think it's still brownfacing when a cosplayer only cosplays a character of color when they've gotten tan? For example a girl who is only tan during summer but is otherwise pretty darn white doesn't cosplay Katara outside of summer. They haven't intentionally tanned, but they only cosplay Katara when they become tan. Personally, I think it's still brownfacing, but I would like your thoughts on it.

If the person does not cosplay Korra outside of the summer because they aren’t tan in the winter/cooler months, fuck yeah it’s still brownfacing. In general, if you think “Oh, I’m tan so I can cosplay this brown character,” then yes, it’s brownface and wrong.
