So, first off, I fucking what this blog is doing. I got a question about writing characters who are POC. I wrote my characters organically and as a POC (Half Nicaraguan/Half Samoan) I didn't think about race much, whatever felt right felt right; most of them, nearly all of them are POC. It wasn't until I found this blog that I realized, oh shit, am I doing this wrong? Is writing a character, say, a brown girl, but not defining her culture ok? Is not giving my characters cultural identifiers bad?
BRHood: I think it depends. If you’re writing about a fantasy world where people are going to be brown just cuz, that’s fine. But if it’s supposed to take place in our word, past or present or future, cultural identifiers are a must.

PoC have all diff. sorts of experiences and backgrounds. Some people live lives more informed by history and culture than others. (In general, PoC are well-aware of their racial identity, regardless of whether they consciously identify w/ a culture.)
