This is another way Hollywood white washes. They use light skin people to portray dark skin people. Black roles are almost always given up to people with lighter skin in Hollywhite. For example take Zoe Saldana here, who btw never embraces being an African American, oh wait because she’s not she’s Latino, is supposed to play Nina Simone. *sideeye* Now why on earth was she even considered to play such a great woman when there are so many more beautiful way more talented actually black actresses who can play Nina Simone, The High Priestess of Soul. Oh wait I know why….because its all about the Benjamin’s baby. This is exactly how people get a distorted view on our history…. I can go on and on but I don’t want to make it a tl;dr post. TayTay: *I am not going to deny Zoe Saldana’s Blackness. She’s Afro-Latina. She has embraced being herĀ Blackness- does not negate the fact that she has light-skinned privilege Hollywood’s shadeism/colorism ugh* |
