Racebending just had a discussion bout how Zoe Saldana was cast to play Nina Simone, and obvs ZS is a WoC, she's also MUCH lighter than NS, which raised the issue of colorism in media. So it might be more of an issue of colorism in JB's case, to have a woman who does have Native American heritage play Pocahantas but at the same time is white passing and who is probably lighter than Pocahantas was irl... food for thought, speaking as a person w/ passing privilege.
