ichpochtli-ayomichi replied to your post: I love your blog, and I’ve been writing a story with a main character of mixed race (black/hispanic). And your recommendation of working with someone else was smart, but I don’t think it applies to this situation. My character lives in the aftermath of the apocalypse, generations after society crumbled. The whole world is entirely different, and the fact that she’s black and hispanic is never an issue. In fact, most of the classism is based on an entirely different system. Am I in the clear?
The description of “black/hispanic” bothers me here. Hispanic is not a race so that’s not actually very specific. That in itself shows me you are not at all qualified to do this on your own.
BRHood: Ahhh! I missed that! Thank you for pointing it out. And you’re completely right!

Couldn’t they have just been saying the person was a black hispanic character?
