So! Hetalia. Great little series even though it’s not for everyone. Personifications of countries and all that jazz. They of course have black characters as well as characters of other ethnicities. They’re a bit too white for my tastes, but at least they’re tan enough so you can tell they’re not white.
So Seychelles is a country that consists of an island chain. She pops up and she has this skin color. Forgive me for not having a bigger picture. Himaraiya doesn’t remain consistent in coloring her skin but in Volume 3 he made her black so yeah.

This is how Studio Deen colors her skin.

They didn’t even try.
Even if she was white, I would expect her skin to be tan at least considering that it’s an island country known for tourism. This isn’t the only character they’ve whitewashed, either. They’ve done it to Egypt, too.

Cuba thankfully wasn’t given the bleach treatment in the anime

Not sure if you’ve done something on this before, but I think you guys should know.
SoLDN: We know about the Bleaching in Helatia. SHAME!
The places with people that tend to have dark skin are white washed as hell.
Would it of been so hard to make places with mostly dark skin people have a character that looks like the norm? I don’t see England being drawn as an Asian person even though there is an Asian population here but they draw the places with a dark skin population on the lighter side and then STILL white wash them. I’m sure there will people that say “but there are white/light people there” POINT MISSED! There are Black people in France and Asian people in England but France and England but how do their characters look in the anime?
Hetalia is really bad when it comes to white washing
