We’re sick of white washing.
Whitewashing is a discreet yet disgusting form of racism.
It can be portrayed in a number of ways (and doing just one of the following can make you a whitewasher):
1. Fat-shaming
2. Skin lightening
3. Redefining obviously ethnic features so as to look more eurocentric (read: white)
Two examples of the erasure of ethnic features are (but not limited to):
1. changing hair texture
2. changing facial features
There has been long, withstanding underrepresentation and misrepresentation of people of color in various aspects of society, especially media and entertainment. We need to protect the characters of color in the media from succumbing to whitewashing methods, regardless of how problematic they are.
Characters of color in media, regardless of whether or not they’re human, are just that, characters of color. They are to be drawn and interpreted as who they are, not lightened/bleached to best suit your racist aesthetic ideologies. It is not okay. There is no justification for lightening a character’s skin color. To do so is to demean the equality of skin of color, to send the message that skin of color isn’t good enough/inferior, which would mean you are enforcing whiteness/white supremacy.

We’re here to fuck shit up and shake the racist foundations of several fandoms. We’ve noticed that tackling the subject of whitewashing individually leads to hordes of racism apologists who continuously attempt to reason why it is okay to lighten a character’s skin color.
We repeat.
It is not.
We have banded together to confront these issues head on, and our followers (who showed up in flocks of hundreds, thank you!) will be witnesses to the truly abhorrent, racist nature of whitewashing, no matter how subtle.
